Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Devada is seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer who will support, maintain, and optimize our Production SaaS environments, work to mitigate security issues, and help provision new environments. In this role you will provide an experienced level of technical guidance and support to our customers and the engineering team. Additionally, your deep knowledge of technology, security, and running a SaaS ecosystem help drive a culture of that lives a high availability SaaS. 

The successful candidate will bring with them a natural curiosity for understanding how things work, a passion for high quality and usable software, motivation to learn and grow, technical aptitude across the entire stack, and the ability to work with and motivate a team. Additionally, you will evangelize the pull of quality upstream via a robust set of development-based tests within our continuous delivery system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the scalability, performance, and availability of the AnswerHub platform by solving reliability challenges that span existing systems and services
  • Develop tools and automation to minimize delivery time and increase developer productivity
  • Participate in the design and development of new and evolving services, architecture, and performance standards
  • Participate in and strongly influence capacity planning and service performance analysis and tuning
  • Influence in development of best practices for deployment, monitoring and alerting
  • Support team members in the development of a SOA strategy and migration path
  • Respond to and resolve emergent issues. Be on-call periodically as part of shared team.
  • Begin to mentor and coach for junior team members
  • You are considered a “security employee” and have a particularly noteworthy security aspect to your role and are required to undergo additional training annually.
  • Administer and ensure logical security in carrying out all job duties
  • Support in Security Incident response and monitoring, as needed

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including experience with high-volume, production distributed systems environment
  • Linux administration/operating system internals (filesystems, syscalls, cgroups, etc)
  • Experience with cloud networking: VPC, security groups, etc.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:  Java, MySQL
  • Experience with any of the following applications: Apache, HAProxy, NGinX, Graphite, Redis, Elastic Beanstalk, Elastic Search
  • Ability to break down large bodies of work into manageable tasks
  • Extensive working experience with Linux system
  • Proven experience with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, GCP etc.
  • High-level shell fluency + one or more scripting languages (Python, Perl, or similar)
  • Experience managing and deploying full stack, distributed services
  • Experience with container orchestration (Docker, K8, etc.)
  • Experience with configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Puppet etc)
  • Working knowledge with Artifactory, Jenkins and github
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and pipeline analysis tools (Jira, Status Cake, ELK Stack, APM tools etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
